- For that platform they are... (Which is what I said)
-
- : Hmm.. Intel probably doesn't run more software on the planet. PowerPC
- : would be the winner. With MacOs and NT running the bulk of software out
- : there. Not to mention that the PPC's fast floating point isn't *too* shabby.
-
- I said OS, not the hardware. (Or at least I tried too -- I realize that it
- was worded rather poorly) Either way though, I think that you're *probably*
- wrong about the PPC having more software than the Pentium, and I'm quite
- certain that Win95 would win for quantity of software.
- How is the Pentium emulation under NT for PPC anyways? Does it exist?
-
- : :) Hey, isn't the chip that Amigas are going to? Add in the thousands
- : of Amiga titles to the PPC early next year. From just about any standpoint
- : a PPC makes more sense than a X86 cisc chipset.
-
- Too bad that has nothing to do with this discussion though. :)
- PPC is fine, but it certainly doesn't make more sense "from just about
- any standpoint". How about from the standpoint of the average home
- user of today. They'd be kooky to buy a PPC today (if they could even
- find one). (Unless of course they are an upgrading Mac user)
- Secondly, I wouldn't get too excited about a PPC Amiga just yet...
- Nobody knows much about these machines yet (seeing as how they don't
- exist, and there havn't been any serious reports on their specs), and even
- if they DO arrive (Yes, I said "IF") I have some pretty serious doubts
- about their compatability with 680x0 based Amiga software... I think that
- PowerAmigas ought to stay out of advocacy discussions until somebody at
- least knows exactly what they are going to be, and preferably not until
- we hear that AmigaTech has "Shadow of the Beast" running in a window on
- Workbench4.0PPC.
